The story is about a real patient with multiple personality disorder, William Stanley Milligan (February 14, 1955 - december 12, 2014).

After having committed several felonies including armed robbery, he was arrested for three rapes on the campus of Ohio State University. In the end, Billy was acquitted of the crime with a reason that his two alternate personalities committed the crime without Billy's knowledge.
